FRPA Conference 2024 Service Project

Each year an organization, generally a non-profit, is chosen by the Conference Committee to benefit from the generosity of the Conference attendees. The Service Project subcommittee has been working closely with Special Olympics of Florida on a particularly unique way to give back in 2024. The mission of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. You are encouraged to read more about this fantastic organization by visiting their website: www.specialolympicsflorida.org.

While the bulk of service projects take place at the Conference, this year's Committee decided to offer opportunities to connect with the chosen organization leading up to the Conference as well. You can donate items to the Special Olympics in your area, fundraise for a donation, volunteer at events throughout the state, and consider partnering with Special Olympics for events and activities in your area.

The Committee has put together a goal to work together towards. The hope is to earn a total of 10,000 points, collectively, by the 2024 Conference through a series of donations, volunteer, hours, and more.
Points will be awarded as follows:

  • 10 points for every dollar donated directly to Special Olympics Florida
  • 20 points per dollar spent on equipment donations
  • 50 points per hour of volunteer work
  • 250 points if you start a Race for Inclusion Team.
  • 300 points per partnership agreed on before Conference
