    This program is designed for professionals new to supervisory positions who have demonstrated promise as a future leader in the field or seasoned supervisors who want a refresh on skills and techniques to be the best supervisor you can be. The Institute is designed to expose participants to critical leadership skills in preparation for future leadership growth. After completion of the Emerging Leaders Institute and continued employment in the field, participants should explore the FRPA Leadership school (currently in development), and then the Abrahams Jones Leadership Academy as a professional development journey to further prepare them as an executive level leader in the parks and recreation field.     The Florida Recreation and Park Association on behalf of the National Recreation and Park Association is offering the Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) course and certification to properly train and certify individuals to recognize and prevent potential playground hazards. Courses are designed for park and recreation staff, school districts, child care facilities, health departments, landscape architects, playground manufactures, installers, contractors, insurance firms, home owner’s associations, and more. Tentative Class Schedule: November 15, 2023 7:30 a.m. –8:00 a.m. Registration 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Class Instruction November 16, 2023 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Class Instruction November 17, 2023 8:00 a.m. –8:45 a.m. Exam Check-In 9:00 a.m. –11:00 a.m. Exam Registration Deadline: October 20, 2023 (or until course is full) Materials will be mailed after payment is received. Make sure you provide an address where you can receive USPS shipments. (No PO Boxes) No materials will be mailed between August 24-September 8. First Time Certification Those taking the course are eligible to take the Playground Safety Inspector Exam given immediately after the course. Upon passing the exam, you will be certified through the National Recreation and Park Association as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) for a three year period. Certificates will be awarded and your name will be added to a national roster of CPSIs. Certification Renewal Option 1: Course and Exam You can take both the course and exam to refresh your knowledge. Option 2: Exam only Register with FRPA and pay for the exam. You must have taken the course previously to take just the exam.
