A position with the Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) allows individuals with a passion for service to provide support for the field of parks and recreation. FRPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and advocacy of the Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Services profession. Originally organized in 1942 and incorporated in 1983, the Association is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and an Executive Team in Tallahassee. Members are professionals working for federal, state and local parks, recreation and leisure service agencies; local recreation and park advisory board members serving in local communities; faculty and students at colleges and universities; therapeutic recreation specialists and activity coordinators working in recreation settings; and suppliers of recreation and park products and services. EDUCATION AND EVENTS COORDINATOR
The Events and Education Coordinator allows the Florida Recreation and Park Association to provide relative, timely, and affordable events for the membership. As the Events and Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for the continuing education and professional development coordination for the Association’s membership. By building connections with members throughout the state, you will create a network for planning education events and organizing logistics. Throughout the year, you will form relationships with Commercial Members and prospective members as you organize the Annual Exhibit Hall that takes place onsite during the Annual Conference.
Office environment is consistent with a small office; quiet for long periods of time and most personable interaction takes place over the phone or computer.
Base Requirements:
- Experience in planning in-person and virtual professional meetings and events – minimum of two years.
- Capacity to organize, plan, and prioritize work.
- Ability to learn and comprehend frequently used software systems.
- Aptitude to think critically and apply logic and reasoning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excel at written and verbal communication.
- Ability to walk substantial distances to and between meetings and otherwise while carrying needed items or meeting supplies or other materials as part of an onsite meetings team.
- This is an in-office position – staff are required to be in the office Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm ET.
- Must be able to operate in a small office environment, and learn and adhere to company policies, procedures, and rules.
- A current Driver’s License is required.
- We are seeking a non-smoker for this position to promote a healthy workplace environment.
- Position is not eligible for relocation reimbursement.
