Students
Florida is a great place for students interested in the parks, recreation and leisure services field. FRPA works to foster relationships with students to support their goals of working in the parks, recreation and leisure services field.
FRPA has created a Mentoring Program to connect students with professionals in the field. For students not involved in the Mentoring Program, the Association provides a discounted membership rate to encourage students to become involved in a professional organization early in their career. The FRPA Foundation is also instrumental in supporting students by providing a student scholarship .
Purpose
The basic purpose of the recreation, parks, and leisure services field is to improve quality of life by providing creative and meaningful recreation and leisure experiences for all people through: (1) recreation and leisure program services; (2) parks and other related areas and facilities; and (3) leisure education. The primary objective of recreation and leisure services is to assist people in adding life to years rather than years to life. Personnel employed in this field work with all age groups, at all levels of ability and disability in recreation, parks, and leisure settings.
