Youth Sports in Parks and Recreation
FRPA has partnered with the National Alliance for Youth Sports to ensure safe and positive youth sports experiences for Florida's children.
About NAYS
The goal of the National Alliance for Youth Sports is to make sports safe and positive for America's youth. The Alliance believes that (1) participation in youth sports develop important character traits and values, and (2) the lives of youths can be positively impacted if the adults caring for them have proper training and information.
From the FRPA Executive Director
Perhaps our greatest natural resource is our youth. It is incumbent upon us to protect that natural resource in whatever environment the resource exists. The youth sports environment of today can result in a child flourishing in the areas of academics, motor skills, social skills, self esteem and decision making; or it can be the one that grossly fails a child who learns to diminish the capabilities of others by screaming and unacceptably communicating one's wishes to others, demeaning and embarrassing teammates. The responsibility is ours to assure that no child fails because we fail to properly train staff, volunteer coaches and parents in the proper way to help our resource flourish. Signing a lease for a facility or a field does not release us from the responsibility of what occurs on that field or in that facility. Don't let it happen in your community- improve and enhance your youth sports environment today.
