Message from Former Citizen Chair, Dr. Dan Stanley
Welcome to the Florida Recreation and Park Association, the largest professional association of our endeavor in Florida. As a member of FRPA, you are automatically associated with other Floridians interested in Recreation and Parks. As a citizen, citizen board member, or citizen volunteer, you will be involved and have contact with over 400 volunteers who are advocates of leisure services and protecting our environment.
Ask what FRPA does for you? -
- Legislative contacts in Tallahassee, to address the issues regarding increased delivery of leisure services,
- State and District Professional Conferences and meetings with the opportunity for you to interface with other board members, citizens, professional recreators, and a vast representation of commercial companies.
- Professional literature, the FRPA Journal, District and Section newsletters and printed material from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) addressing the very issues and concerns you share.
More important is what you can do for your Association -
- Your membership expands the FRPA membership base, so we can tell law makers that our membership involves large numbers of citizens, volunteers, and voters, the listen.
- You can attend or even lead various sessions at State, District and/or Section meetings. Your ideas are important. The way your Board operates may assist others with similar situations.
- You may become a spokesperson for specific topics related to recreation.
You see, FRPA needs you even more than you need them. The newly formed Citizen Committee looks forward to meeting you and assisting your volunteer efforts to enhance Recreation and Parks in your community and throughout the State of Florida.
