Citizen Members
Purpose
The Florida Recreation and Park Association has over 400 citizen members among its membership. These members range from people who volunteer in local parks and recreation agencies, local city and county commissioners, and people who serve on agency advisory boards. Despite the differences in their positions, they all have one important aspect in common; they each care about the well being of their community.
How to be an Effective Citizen Advocate
The first step in becoming an effective citizen advocate is gathering information. There are many issues affecting parks and recreation as well as statewide issues that impact our local communities that FRPA is continuously watching. To find out more information check the "Important links" provided. Other people are also a great resource; FRPA's Citizen Committee Chair is Patricia Kennedy and she and Greg Scott, the Vice President of Advocacy would be happy to hear from you.
